ENERCOMP Technical Committee Member
Omer Hussain is a distinguished engineering professional with over 15 years of extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, specializing in pipeline systems, materials engineering, and advanced design methodologies. He holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Pipeline Engineering from the University of Newcastle, United Kingdom. His academic research focused on the application of advanced insulation materials for pipelines transporting cryogenic fluids, combining flow assurance modeling with finite element analysis (FEA) to validate thermal performance and structural integrity. In early 2025, Mr. Hussain joined Saudi Aramco’s Materials Consulting Department, where he plays a pivotal role in the evaluation, design, and qualification of nonmetallic piping systems for diverse applications, including design, construction, and long-term operational reliability. His responsibilities include advising on material selection, conducting failure analysis, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal specifications.
Prior to this role, Mr. Hussain held several key technical and managerial positions in the subsea flexible piping sector. He was instrumental in the qualification and testing of materials used in subsea flexible pipes, collaborating closely with Research and Development (R&D) teams to ensure product innovation aligned with operational demands. Most recently, he served as Engineering Manager for a leading company specializing in thermoplastic reinforced piping systems, where he oversaw the technical execution of projects aimed at rehabilitating corroded carbon steel pipelines in aging infrastructure. A strong advocate for digital transformation, Mr. Hussain has led initiatives to develop and implement design tools powered by numerical models and data integration, streamlining engineering workflows and enhancing decision-making processes.
